I learned American Mah Jongg as a child around my grandparents’ kitchen table. My Granny, Dot, taught me the game more than 20 years ago, and it has been a source of connection, tradition, and joy in my life ever since.

As I grew older, I came to understand what makes Mah Jongg so special. It is strategic and challenging, yes — but more than that, it gives people a reason to gather. Around the table, strangers become friends, confidence grows, and community begins to take shape.

The Lucky Dot was created in honor of that feeling.

Inspired by tradition and rooted in love, The Lucky Dot offers American Mah Jongg classes, private lessons, social play, and curated events for players at every stage.

The Lucky Dot Mah Jongg Co. brings people together through the timeless game of American Mah Jongg. Through thoughtful classes and welcoming events, we make learning approachable, connection natural, and confidence possible at every stage of play.

Dots are one of the three suits in Mah Jongg, and Dot is also the name of my Granny — the woman who first brought this game into my life.

The name The Lucky Dot was chosen with intention. It honors her, the tradition she shared with me, and the joy I now get to share with others around the table.

You’re choosing someone who truly values your presence at the table, celebrates each player’s growth, and believes this game is as much about connection as it is about the tiles. I’m deeply grateful for every person who sits down to learn, play, and share in the joy of Mah Jongg with me.

You can usually find me walking my dog, drinking a good cup of tea, practicing yoga, reading, writing, or finding quiet ways to be creative. I love cozy spaces, meaningful conversation, and the kind of simple moments that make people feel at home.
